Sorry Geralyn,
Nothing so exotic. Mesclun is a generic name for a mixture of salad greens,
popular in Europe (according to the seed catalogs). Usually includes
chicory, endive, and other kinds of greens that have a lot more taste than
the supermarket iceberg. Although sawdust has more flavor to me than
supermarket iceberg. Mesclun mix, roasted garlic cloves and a rasberry
vinegarette dressing. Good stuff.
Margaret, thanks for the heads up. I'll start the seeds in the basement and
plant them out in September also. Do you bother hardening off the seedlings?
I didn't with the cauliflower and broccoli and set them WAY back. Gotta head
out back now and cut off the first of the Anaheim chilis! This is cool!
Mike
