I can't speak for other machines, I have an Acorn (wouldn't have
anything else, thank you!).
On that when I go to reply option it takes me to a w/p type display.
I go to the top of the redundant material, use the mouse and drag to the
other end and let go. I now have a section of white letters on a black
background, press delete (or Ctrl-X)and the job's done!
