Hi William, You might want to try winter onions aka egytian or walking. you would be able to harvest them in the spring. Chives would work too. I have heard of planting seed now of regular onions and over winter. Contact your local county extension agent and find out what type will work in your area. Plant some garlic now..... well actually mid October good onioning mary zoned in 5 with all kinds of onions
