Wow! Symphylans--this is a real revelation--I could never figure out the
troubles I've had growing spinach--less so with beets. But the soil is
rich, heavily composted...I'll bet I've even seen the little buggers.

A friend of mine served a delicious puree of garden root vegetables at
Thanksgiving dinner--turnips, rutabaga, celeriac, parsnip --and
pumpkin--salt, pepper, nutmeg butter. Yum.
