Hi, It was funny to see Bright Lights on your list, because I was planning
to get it also. I am also looking at Jingle Bells Sweet Peppers, because
although they are only 2" in diameter, I thought that they might look cute
stuffed with stuff, and I keep reading how they produce when all the other
varieties quit due to obstreperous weather. Then, also, I thought to try
Misato Rose Japanese Radish, because it looked way cool: red on the inside,
then a layer of white, and the outside green, kind of like a watermelon. It
is supposed to have a very nice flavor, not too hot. These, and a bunch
of other stuff I'm considering, are available through pinetree Seeds, in
New Gloucester, Maine. They have the best prices I can find anywhere. I've
been getting seeds from them for years, and I have never had a problem with
them at all. I will be getting basil, dill, and some other things from
Le Jardin du Gourmet, in St. Johnsbury Vt. because they have stuff in
packets for 25 cents! My veggie garden is so small, I don't have room for
very large quantities of anything, so it's perfect for me.
By the way, have any of you grown okra in Z. 6 or colder? If so, please
send any words of wisdom, because my husband wants to try growing it this
year, and I am interested in any tricks of the trade.
There are a few other things I'm looking for this year, that I may end up
ordering from Park's, but if anybody has seen a less expensive place to
get those canna's with the yellow and green striped leaves, LET ME KNOW!
We just had a giant rain here that washed away all of our snow cover, so
I'm very sorry about that. Happy and Healthy, and Prosperous, and of
course, PEACEFUL New Year to all of you, your families, and your plants
too! Lauren, Z6 NY
