I agree. I use a leakypipe hose but the idea is the same, you must not
let them dry out. Some people soak the drill before sowing, I have not
tried that. The critical period lasts 2-3 weeks, and you have to be
patient. It is a good idea to sow in a very accurate straight line so
that when hoeing you can tell exactly where to expect the carrots. Get
some twigs as from shrub prunings and use these to mark the row.
If you sow thinly you can avoid having to thin, this takes practice, use
one of those little circular seed shakers and watch the rate of
delivery.
