RE: Introduction

Hi, Frank.

Sorry about the delay in responding, I've just got back from holidays and
have been deluged by hundreds of emails awaiting my return. I've spent a
number of lunch breaks trying to work my way through them all.

I not only live in Australia, but South Australia like yourself (in the
western suburbs of Adelaide to be more precise). I have lurked on this list
for almost six months now and found it to be most informative (particularly
since those in the Northern Hemisphere seem to be awakening from their
winter slumber).

As for me, I'm enjoying picking the odd tomato (Kotlas - supposed to be
early fruiter but mid-season at our place), a few beans (Italian Romano
mainly, still waiting for Slenderette, Windsor Long Pod and the foot long
Snake Beans to appear), a radish or two (mainly Daikon) and silverbeet
(which is not helped by the 39 degree Cel. days, but it's mainly supplement
for the chooks anyway).

I'm watching with excitement as my first crop of eggplant matures, but
disappointment when I look upon the celery which has either withered or is
barely edible (stringy and bitter) - I think celery needs more water than
I'm prepared to give it.

Lots to learn.

Hi there,
Ive just subscribed to this list. Here's a very quick intro!
I am looking forward to enjoying the conversations etc.
My wife and I both love gardening, although we don't get out nearly enough!
( ordinary block size of a quarter of an acre). We are mainly cottage
gardeners, growing our own vegies, fruit ( plums, peaches. lemons,
nectarines, banana, apples passionfruit and grapes)
We live in South Australia, so we are in early summer ( in a temperate
Mediterranean climate)
Anyone else from Australia ?
Looking forward to meeting you all.
Best wishes
Frank
