Here in Portland (Zone 8) it's too wet to even think of working the soil
yet. But I have been out spreading compost, aged manure, bone meal, and
rock dust over my garden and beds, where it will await 'tilling', probably
in a month or so.
I am preparing to order myself a new "Mantis" tiller, which I worked into
this year's budget a year ago. Also am planning to attend the big garden
show in Seattle next weekend and two home & garden shows here in Portland
the next weekend. Those events, and starting some "Brandywine" seeds inside
in a couple of weeks, are going to have to hold me until I can be outside.
I *will* plant some pea seeds as soon as the ground is something other than
mud!
