HI Ruth, I don't know exactly where you are so I brought up all the frsot dates.
since you are in 7 I am guessing these two cities with later frost dates
are in Z-6
something to think about.
have you ever gardened before?
I ask only because of your above statement.
LOL!
I tried that one or two years then realized if my ground wasnt' ready it
would most Likely die before I got it there.
That was a very very expensive lesson.
As much for the heart as the pocket book.this list deals with veggies there
are ohters for flowers which I am not doing much of here THIS year.
a few to attract bees for pollinating but thats all.
Find Your Frost Date: OKLAHOMA
This is generally the latest in Spring and the earliest in Fall your region
experiences frost.
CITY SPRING FALL
Boise City 5/09/97 9/21/97
Chattanooga 4/29/97 10/10/97
Idabel 4/24/97 10/12/97
Kingfisher 5/06/97 10/06/97
Lawton 4/24/97 10/13/97
Perry 5/01/97 10/07/97
Tulsa 4/27/97 10/13/97
I got these off the net you might check you local extensions office to be sure.
If you haven't already tried your local county extensions agent you should
run their TODAY their is such a wealth of information just waiting to be
given away!
veggies, flowers, and canning!
Peas can go in the ground in Zone 7.
some beans.
brussel sprouts, broccoli, and cauliflower can tolerate (i just learned)
some dips in the 20's so if you are past most of that Lowes and others
including nursheries have these available.
Herbs are iffy but I was told Sorrel is great in this weather and some
lettuces can be transplanted. or started i imagine.
My neighbor has put out her potatoes, strawberries, onions and garlic.
HAve Fun GOOD LUCK!!!
