Hey Dot! someone on the shade garden list is asking what to do for FIRE ANTS??
besides seven dust and unmentionalbe gasloine what so ya do to get rid of
those nasty things.. borax??? to sprikle on the hills.
someone mentioned :
4: Deter ants. Spray vinegar around doors, appliances, and
along other areas where ants are known.
Some say cinnamon deters ants too. Soap has lard in it and the ants love it.
Find someplace away from the house and under a little dirt so kids and pets
cannot get into it. Poison the soap if possible.
but any RED FIRE ANT *I* have ever met would NOT be detered from this
--seems like a california sugar or grease ant for those little remedies
do't ya think?? <G>
