This is my second season of growing cucumbers and squash on a trellis, and
have found it to a great success. It saves lots of space and they ripen
better as well. The frame of the trellis of reasonably strong steel with 2
side bars an a bar along the top and bottom, andgardentwine tied vertically
from top to bottom for the vines to grow up.I have not had any trouble with
squash falling off...the vines are strong enough to hold them. This is a way
of growing these that I endorse...have found great success with it...so
will continue with this method.
We are still enjoying warm weather here, but are desperate for
rain....second year of drought....it is taking it's toll on the
garden....the sweet and chilie peppers and aubergines are enjoying the
heat...so will not complain :-)
Phillippa...in warm but very dry Christchurch New Zealand.
