tobacco

you definitely do not want to use any tobacco products in
 the garden.

tobacco mosaic virus is deadly to potatoes and especially tomato plants.
if you smoke, don't smoke in your garden and be sure to wash your hands
with soap and you can even rinse out your mouth with mouthwash.

a good organic spray for pests can be made with a little tiny bit of
dish detergent, some cayenne pepper and some basil steeped in water.
strain and put into a sprayer. when you spray make sure that you get
the undersides of all the leaves. spray every week or after every time
it rains.

get a good herb book and plant herbs in your garden. one basil plant
between each tomato plant makes both the tomatoes and the basil taste
better and it can keep a lot of pests out of your garden. chamomile can
also help with the mosquitos.

sincerely,

Hi,

Don't use anything with tobacco in it on peppers. It can harbor a virus that
attacks them. I'm really rusty on what other plants, if any, might be
included in the list. I think the virus is the tobacco mosaic virus. Some
people don't smoke in the garden because of that. But this is from a really
rusty memory. I know the detergent and water is a good idea. Nicotine is a
potent insecticide, but tobacco shouldn't be applied directly. Hope these
fragments help a little.
