Forcing Lettuce in the Winter

On Sunday January 16th I set up

- a GrowForIt Products Gro-Mat Elecric Seed propagation Mat $49.95 from Pinetree Gardens

- a single plastic seed flat with a clear cover left over from last year, washed out with soap and water

- filled it with Agway Professional Potting Mix .09 .09 .09 16 quarts for $399

- seeded short rows of Pinetree Gardens C61 Salad Green Mesclun Mix - Misticanza Packed for 1999
and Pinetree Gardesn 203 Lettuce - Pinetree Lettuce Mix - Packed for 1999

four days later on Wednesday January 19 three seed sprouts appeared

I set up a Double Flourescent Shop Light with Designer Warm White Bulbs 3 inches above the top of the
clear cover.

On tonite January 20, one additional seed sprout appeared.

I'm looking for advice on the care and feeding of this indoor crop over the next 60 days.

My Questions:

Light is on from 6:30 Am to 6:30 pm daily (more light or less?)
It's lettuce in a flat. What should I feed it so it comes out tasting best? When should I feed it?
Should I do succession plantings in the same flat or should I just plant the whole flat?
Should I transplant or thin in the flat and harvest from there?
How long should I leave it on the Gro-Mat?
When should I take the cover off?
When the temp is above freezing should I put the flat outside during the day?
How do I prevent damping off?
