Propagation Heat Mats

Hello everyone,

I start my seeds in the basement of my house, which is on the chilly
side. One of the "luxuries" I have been wanting for a long time is a
heat mat that you put under the seed starter trays. They are very
expensive. In the past year I read a comment from someone that they
used roof ice heat cords to make their own mats. I was wondering if
anyone has set up their seed starting trays using these or pipe heat
wraps? If you have, could you describe how you set it up? Do you have
the cords/wraps in between another substance (a blanket? rubber mat?).
I am having a hard time picturing how to set this up.

Thanks.
