Larry,
Bush beans are a bit like bush tomatoes. They don't flower over a very long
period and the beans are harvested pretty much all at the same time. Once
flowering stops, no more beans.
Pole beans do tend to produce flowers longer but I find they start much
later than bush beans so I like to combine the two. I get an early crop of
bush beans and then continue through the summer with pole beans.
