Absolutely the coolest bush green bean I've ever used is called "Royal
Burgundy" The beans are a deep purple color when picked and turn dark green
when you cook them. I've got three weeks worth of succession plantings going
right now and room for two more. I plant about 50 seeds each week. The
first ones from about 4 weeks ago are about to bloom so its a matter a couple
of weeks to first harvest.
I've also had good luck with "Kentucky Wonder" Pole bean. The pole beans
definitely lasted longer than the bush beans, but succession plantings of the
bush beans yielded a steady crop right into September.
I'm a bit late this year with the pole beans but they're in the ground as of
yesterday. I should have had them in two weeks ago but I'm hoping for a nice
fall harvest.
