The one year I have grown tomatoes here in GA, we had tomatoes until Christmas! Hold on throughout the summer and when the weather turns cooler you will have better fruits. There's a reason why southerners invented fried green tomatoes and pickled green tomatoes.

     I have enjoyed reading the postings of the last week -- when I have not been out in the heat picking beans! I am wondering if anyone can give me advice about tomatoes. They have what my neighbor calls "blossom rot," which is ruining some gorgeous fruits. I am not new to gardening, but I am new to this problem -- and to Southern gardening. My tomatoes in South Dakota never had this problem, so I'm wondering if it is related to the blistering heat (although we had some very hot summers back in Dakota). Can anyone advise me as to what I can do to prevent further losses? Right now, I'm picking the tomatoes as soon as they turn yellow (they are huddled together in the house).
