hi kavita,
welcome to gardening in the seattle area. i live there too and have
found that i get good success with lots of veggies. this year, peas,
carrots, lettuce, spinach, swiss chard, zucchini, summer crookneck,
beets, potatoes, 2 types of winter squash, cucumbers, onions, and garlic
as well as various berries round out my plot. in pots since i am short
on space, i have tomatoes which are not only blooming, but also have some
green fruit. early varieties are the best for our area since we don't
have the longer hot summers. to keep the tomato upright, i have put 1/2"
dowels in and tied the plant to it with jute twine. there are other
options such as tomato cages that are available from your local garden or
hardware store.
hope that was some help,
cindi
