I know I answered someone twice about soil preparation. Forgive me. My mail
is really messed up lately.
My chile peppers are still very small. They want to set blossoms, but they
are only about 5 inches tall. There is nice growth on top, but yellow leaves
towards the bottom. I am wondering if that city mulch that was dumped in
there could have brought in some diseases that the garden didn't have in the
soil before. I know it is possible. The weather has been uneven, too, and I
know this caused some set-back.
I live in central New York, zone 5/6. I'd like to try a fall spinach crop,
and leaf lettuce. I read once that late August was the time to plant in
this zone. Any ideas?
