I'v been eating blackberries for *somewhere* past 60 years....I just pluck
one off the bush..blow on it hard...like blowing out a birthday candle...and
plop it in my mouth!! That is ..when I'm eating straight from the vine.
NOW..if you are talking about a quanity...like pint, quart...gallon. I always
picked a handful up..looked them over very carefully...removing any bugs,
leaves etc. put that handful over into a pan until I finish the lot..then wash
the berries a couple times, pouring the water off, or lifting the berries
out..handful by handful. So, far if I or anyone else ate a bug, didn't know it
nor did it make us sick. Have frozen, canned and made jam, Jelly and pies
with Blackberries , still around to tell about it.!! :)
