My gardening neighbor has a good plan for dealing with squash vine borer
(actually a moth larve.) Soon as he sees damage beginning, he plants several
seeds right by the damaged plant. By the time the seedlings are of bearing
age, the moth's cycle is well over. He always has more squash than he can use.
Of course this would not work for the acorn and butternut squash; only the
summer squash.
