Your tomato roots may go down 20 feet by now if they're being watered
correctly and there's no hardpan below. It would be foolish to move them at
this point. What makes you think tomatoes need sun to ripen?  You can prune
the vines to add some air circulation, but in your part of the country, you
may be asking for blight anyway by planting tomatoes too closely.  How far
apart did you plant them?  I always plan on a three-foot separation, but
then I do cage them, too.  Margaret
