Hi Utah -
Pumpkins and squash readily cross-pollinate, but I don't think cucumbers
do as well. They may well do between different types of cucumber. I
think that Gourds are the only guys among the pumpkin clan that don't
readily swap their stuff with other types of curcubit. What would
happen if the piston of a pumpkin pollinated a squash is that you would
grow a lovely pumquash, or squakin or something similar. Usually they
have a nice taste, but I don't think I'd save the seeds, unless you want
that specific combination again.
Of course, I'm no Dr Vegistein...
