If the charcoal is from wood and nothing fancy then it should contain
potassium bicarbonate which is a good source of potash. It is very
soluble so it has to be gathered and used immediately or stored dry.
Use it round fruit like tomatoes or gooseberries. The unburnd fraction
if any should have a sweeetening effect on the soil.
