Hi
Regards rewards of gardening: I picked 2 zucchinni today and brought
them in to my mother (she is the chief cook around here). When I was
fixing my lunch I saw a bowl with one sliced up in sour cream with onions
(probably some that my grandson pulled yesterday). I know what we're
having with supper tonight!!!
I don't have a lot planted just tomatoes (100's of plants), peppers,
zucchini, butternut squash, pumpkins, green beans, corn and cucumbers.
Am still fighting weeds and trying to make raised beds. As I pull weeds
I am laying down cardboard topped with mulch and/or weeds. It is hard to
get a tiller through this ground (it is solid clay) and I'm not fond of
them anyway (noisy and hard for me to handle). The area I am working on
is a little over an acre in size. When I get it tamed I have another
plot almost the same size on the other side of the barn. This year my
son-in-law has field corn planted there for the animals. He also has a
4-acre plot down behind the pond planted in corn.
