lemon cucumbers

Hi,
Last year I planted lemon cucumbers and the vines produced lots
of cucumbers. This year after many weeks of waiting and hundreds
of blooms, 1 cucumber!! There were 7 different vines that looked
very healthy. I read something about male and female blooms.
Does anyone have any info about this problem? Maybe next year I 
will have better luck because the lemon cucumber has a great taste.
