I did not have very much success this year with my onions. I planted them about 2 inches deep and they grew tall but the fruit on most remained relatively small. The tops began to die which indicated to me that they were ready. Any advise would be great for me as well.:-)

I have read that in order to get large round onions one should plant onion
sets two inches deep; I have also read that to achieve this one should
plant them just below the surface. Can anyone tell me from personal
experience which procedure is correct? I have got conflicting results.
