My garden started out as two truck loads of garden mix soil that my
daughter got me for free. I have tried various configurations but
currently, I have dug trenches about one foot deep,(down to original
grade)
at five foot intervals. This leaves me with four "raised" beds, five
feet wide and
fifty feet long. (The length of soaker hoses) The trenches are just as
wide as my 5hp rototiller. I run two soaker hoses down each five foot
bed.
I am only going to hook up my automatic feeder to one of the soaker
hoses
to see how it fares under one row of tomato plants.
Thanks for the tip on using the poly tubing to fix cuts and
blowouts. I have
been using 1/2 inch copper pipe with two hose clamps, but your idea
sounds
much better. I also have been using cut up garden hoses to space my
soaker hoses over areas that I don't need watered. I don't know why I
didn't
think of using poly instead.
Thanks again.
