Shade Garden

What kind of plant do you recommend for a Shade Garden ?

Are Geraniums good in the shade ?   I have two HOSTA's
planted in the shade. I'm finding that even they prefer the sunlight.

What can I do/plant to enhance plant growth in the shade.
