Re: bacterial wilt problem

Katie,

There are many species of bacteria that will cause bacterial wilt, each
specific to the type of host plant. What did you have problems in? It's
usually the case that the bacterial wilt that causes problems in say
tomatoes will not be a problem to other vegetable types. A good, long
rotation will help you manage the disease.

If you live in a climate that gets very hot & clear days, you can try
sterilizing the soil by placing clear plastic over the affected areas. Make
sure the soil is slightly moist before you do this. The moisture will
actually steam sterilize the soil (albeit just a few inches).
