Larry,

In my companion planting book it says borage is a
specific control against tomato worm, is an excellent
provider of organic potassiom, calcium and other
natural minerals, honeybees like the blossoms.  It
doesn't actually recommend planting them together, but
it does say to only plant a few plants when putting
them with strawberries.  I think I would only plant a
few plants at first with the tomatoes.  I am not
personally familiar with borage.  Maybe it is because
of the self-seeding you mentioned.
