RE: Tomato companions

Plant lots of French Marigolds (Brocade) and Purple Basils (Osmin & Red Rubin) around your cages. I even plant them inside the cages at the base of the plants but I have big cages. And I still plant about 1 Borage per every few tomatoes; when they get big, I stake them (the borage) with short (30") stakes of green bamboo and also tie some jute twine around them to keep it narrow & tall instead of short & wide. I can keep them about 18-24" wide this way. Also, if you put down black, red or silver plastic mulch paper & plant everything thru the plastic, you don't have to worry as much about borage reseeding if done properly.

Ok, so I checked out borage and decided I don't want to plant because of the size at maturity.  How about nasturtium?  German Chamomile (annual type)?  Basil?

Last year, I was looking at my tomato patch and decided I had too much open ground; something needed to be planted between my cages.

Anyone willing to share their experience using any of the above mentioned plants?
