Re: Pop-up greenhouse

the "pop-up"  greenhouse is better termed jiffy-up.  it is made by
Growhaus and sold by Charley's Greenhouse and Garden.  i own the
hexagonal one which has a floor area of 10 x 11.8 feet with 7 feet in
height at the center (item 1557 if anyone wants to see a picture at
www.charleysgreenouse.com ).  the house consists of a steel pipe frame
that has shock cords in some of the parts and has locking devices at each
joint.  a  fitted polycarbonate sheeting is then pulled over the frame
and held on by hook and loop strips at the upper corners and then by
webbing and plastic locks at the bottom.  it reminds me of setting up a
large family tent for those of us who camp :).

the nice things about this is that it can be set up anywhere one needs it
(and the ground is relatively flat) and that it can fold up into a large
duffel bag (part of the package) for storage.  it is not a 4 season house
and it cannot be heated.  the venting is also all manual.  i personally
only use it for season extension and allowing me to work when it is
raining too hard to enjoy the garden.
