My father has been growing what he calls American pea beans. This is a
climbing bean, with slightly downy pods containing three or four seeds. The
pods are eaten whole, they do not freeze well, and if the pods are left to
ripen the seeds are unusual in being white at one end and almost black at
the other.
He was given the original seeds by another gardener on his allottments
(community gardens) but here in Britain we cannot find any information
about this bean. Does anyone know anything else about it? Does it have
another name, perhaps?
Many thanks,
