I love composting and tend to throw all sorts of things into the piles.  I
dont have a shreader so some things go in intact and I depend on nature to
break them down.  Most things decompose,  but there are afew that in my
experience dont.  The pinecones that have gone into the first pile are almost
entirely still complete at the end of the cycle several months later.  I then
fish them out and throw them away.  I wouldnt intentionally put them into my
compost.
