I have also used dried blood to keep away rabbits and squirrels.  It really

Good for you, John! And thanks to Maria for offering a humane solution. I
hope the marigolds and garlic work.

I have found that dried blood works as well to keep rabbits away. This is a
good solution for nitrogen-loving plants like lettuce and other greens. The
downside is having to reapply, especially after rains. It may also deter
other animals.

A sprinkling of red pepper on the plants they (the rabbits) like to eat
also sends them shopping elsewhere. This may also work to keep gophers away
from your food. Same problem of reapplication after rain.
