OK, so I was trying to harden off my tomatoes (which are about 8-9 inches
tall with third set of leaves about 1/2 inch from the soil in pots) since I
have been growing them inside. We had a massive temp jump (50 to 70
degrees) yesterday and they look awful now. The leaves are soft and
hanging from the plants. I have kept them inside today, but see no
improvement. I was hoping to let them reside in the cold frame this week
before transplanting, but I am afraid the heat is too much for them. Would
shading and watering be enough to keep them safe in the cold frame?
Also, what temp should be the max to reach in the cold frame for seedlings
(brocolli, beans, tomatoes, marigolds, peppers, and cukes -- all of which
either have their second set of leaves and/or more...or are just sprouting
them) without damaging them?
TIA!!
