Re: Palm tomato plants


Hi Stan,

For tomato sauce, I find that italian plum tomatoes work better.  They
seem to have more flesh and less water.  Of these I have only tried two
so far.  I was very happy with a variety called Enchantment.  The plants
bore lots of fruit, and the tomatoes were a dark red color and very
tasty.  They also retained their color after freezing.  I was less
enchanted with San Marzano.  The color wasn't as good, and the texture
was a bit "mealy".
