No way, I just love 'em. I pick up as many as I can at garage sales, even
broken ones. I have found a 6" length of the cheaper drip line tubing fits
snuggly inside of the 5/8" soaker hoses and fixes nicely any cuts.

I have also found I can intersperse soaker hose lengths with drip lengths
along one line by jamming one into the other in order to water trees and
shrubs and not waste water. Talk about cheap and lazy.

Re fertilizing through them. Thanks for calling the miracle gro number, but
in this day of litigation, what else would they say? Esp if they have a
special product to sell. I suspect the length of time it would take to clog
the hoses with a mineral solution would be years, and perhaps not the life-
span of the hoses. I am willing to take that risk. I also use not straight
miracle gro. In fact, I use K-gro, from k-mart, same formulation and half
the price. I mix this 1 to 1 with sulfate of ammonia white crystals
(21/0/0)which also totally dissolve in water. And is very cheap. I also have
just recently bought a larger bag of water soluble fertilizer which is about
20/20/20, contains fewer trace elements, and was on sale $10 for 25 lbs.
I may try this in the hand-held feeder to see how it dissolves. If it totally
dissolves as they say it should, I may try it in the soaker hoses. I
suspect there are more minerals in my tap water that can clog over time than
in these fertilizers.

Your system sounds just like mine, Stan. I have 8 beds with separate hoses on
each, but all on the same faucet. And valves to balance the flow to each
bed. I love the flexibility of being able to shut off the water on a bed that
is currently being worked or is fallow. I dont bury mine, but I try to keep
them covered with mulch. How far apart do you put yours?

Raining AGAIN in southern calif. It's almost JUNE!!! What's going on? How
can I use my beloved soaker hoses?

Janet.
