Thanks a lot. This sounds like a winner for my pumpkins.
I have successfully used a commercial product I believe
is called Repel. I use it on my seedling trees. It is expensive.
I think I will try the hot sauce mix also. Since the deer love to eat
the flowers from the pumpkin vine it will be interesting to see if
either spray will hurt the flowers. You are not supposed to use it on
vegetables,
but, heck, I don't plan on eating the pumpkins or gourds that
I hope to grow, so maybe I can grow them outside the electric
fence and not have to protect them with wire cages.
BYW, does anyone know if birdhouse gourds are supposed
to grow on trellises or fences like regular gourds or should they
be allowed to rest on the ground?
Thanks,
Stan the cheap and lazy gardener
