Hi jtflash,
No need to apologize, butt away! I got box car willie seeds from tomato
growers supply co. So, all I have is their description. I was looking for
a medium size non-hybrid, this seemed to fit the bill. I hope they are
healthy plants with tasty fruit! I had a heck of a time with my pruden's
purple last year (brandywine type). The fruits would rot on the plant. Not
blossom end rot. I had an abundance of grey bugs that I thought were
soldier bugs ( they had pointy shoulders!) but I believe they might have
been stink bugs sucking on the thin skins. Or anthacnose disease. Pretty
gross results anyway. Early girls weren't hit until the pp's pooped out.
Don't know what to do about this problem if it crops up this year!

hi beth,
sorry to butt in but i just got a couple of box car willies from an old
man but he couldn't tell me anything about them. i also got sturpice,
german red, polish, hungarian, and italian paste. do you or anyone else
know anything about them. the old man that i got them from was a little
senile but he grows beautiful tomatoes. i got some red brandywines from
him last year. shame on me for not saving the seeds as he did tell me
that most of his tomatoes are heirlooms. i will definitely save seeds
this year
sincerely,
jtflash
