The best all around book on the subject that I've seen is Four-Season
Harvest by Eliot Coleman. He does a garden TV show with his wife--the
link below is from my Web site, and will take you directly to Amazon.com's
page for more detail. He gardens year-round in Maine.

Helen & Scott Nearing, Vermonters, authors of Living the Good Life, also
wrote a book about their passive solar greenhouse and how they use it. Not
sure if this one is still in print--I got it from the local library.
