Except for sunny Phoenix where we had fresh sweetcorn for Thanksgiving
dinner picked on Thursday morning. Also "pumpkin" pie made with acorn
squash which would have been better left to ripen a few more weeks.
Currently we're eating fresh Swiss chard, 5 different varieties of leaf
lettuce, radishes, mustard greens (not my favorite), and a few other
somewhat exotic greens that were part of an interesting "Meselun Magic"
collection from a company called "Ornamental Edibles" in San Jose. Several
Big Beef, Champion and Early Gird tomatoes survived out inhospitable summer
and have set fruit, up to 2 inches but still dark green - might ripen if we
don't get a frost for another month but it's not likely (40 deg this morning).
