Re: First Frost


The hills in the Hancock NY (my family is from Wayne Co. PA across the 
river from Hancock) area are mostly sandstone in various stages of 
decay, and pockets of red shale abound.  The frost heaves the stones up 
to the surface of bare garden soil in what seems a never-ending supply.
