Hi Jan--

It's a pretty mixed bunch here, a few of us from California (I'm in
Berkeley) and the Pacific NW, as well as AZ and NM, east, south, Canada,
Britain and parts in between. Your pickled beets sound really good--were
they canned? What beet variety do you like to grow in the heat?

Some winters here it doesn't frost at all, although mildew and heavy wind
and rain can put quite a damper on the winter garden. I'm hoping for
Christmas broccoli, but I may have waited too long to start them.
Hope you're enjoying your Internet experience--sounds like a nice course.
Welcome ---
Havi
