6cm seems a little large to me. Most of the tomatillos I have seen are
on the order of 2-3 cm.
One gardening friend has successfully grown volunteer tomatillos three
years now, in the same plot. Our cold, wet climate is not generally
considered good for tomatillos at all. I have a liter or so of fruits
in the refigerator right now -- I plan to make salsa tomorrow.
