when I worked on a market garden we used to pick the produce that was in the
store the next day.Sometimes we were out till dark picking veggies that had
to be delivered for the next day.
Here in New Zealand we get veggies coming in from Australia and apart from
being rather pricey(At my checkout today a lady bought one
courgette/zucchini and it was 96cents and very small) they have absolutly no
taste. The red and green peppers dont have that lovely smell peppers have. The
tomatoes have thick cores they are terrible. So what happens to these
veggies is anyones guess.I refuse to buy them nothing is near equal to a
home grown veggie.
We do have lovely spring cabbages and carrots now and I picked my first pea
yesterday. Those first veggies of spring sure taste the sweetest.
