Hi Nesa, Thanks for the tips on the malabar spinach. I am growing
the red stemmed one and it is very attractive reaching up the canes
I have used as supports and beyond. Does anyone know the
lowest temp. this plant can tolerate? We are covering our basils
tonight-temp. is going down to 50ish. Two small eggplants, finally,
and many more flowers.Hope they tolerate a little cool weather.
Time will tell. Picked my first "Purple Prince" and "Lemon Boy"
tomatoes this last week and a few "Pink" cherries. "Italian Gold" is
ripening very slowly as are the "Principe Bourgese", "Golden
Queen" and the "Early New Yorker".
Nesa, was it you who wanted the seeds of the red-stemmed
Malabar. Let me know and I will save some.
I wonder how this veg freezes? Maybe I will try some in ravioli.
Hmmm, getting hungry now.
Oh, I almost forget the jalapenos and cayennes and cherry
peppers. Picked a few of each of these also. And several
"Sunburst" and "Starship" summer squash. Maybe I could stuff
them with the malabar, rice, garlic and parmesan? I'll let you know.
Thanks again,
Happy harvesting,
Ronnalee in Wiarton-going down to 50 tonight and 68ish tomorrow.
