Re: Exotic/unusual vegetables

Hi Kay

depends what you call unusual I grow lots of different tomatoes most of which are not on the european seed list. Ditto beans. Ditto cucurbits. So once seed is acquired - from swaps, HDRA, Future Food etc it is a case of saving own seed..

Why? Mainly so that old varieties do not become extinct despite being no longer or not ever on the seed list.

Real exotic veg could be Achocha (a fun sort of cucumber), Fig leaf gourd aka Courge de Siam (because they make ace pickles), Oca (nice decorative, crunchy little tubers), Tomatillo (not really exotic, but they keep for such a long time) etc

What info are you after in particular Kay?

Regards

Petra

I'm looking for information from anyone who grows unusual or exotic
vegetables in their gardens or allotments. If you could drop me a line
letting me know what you grow, where, why & where you get your seed etc that
would be lovely thanks!
