Re: walnuts

Title: Re: walnuts
Ruth, I work for Bachman's in Minneapolis and we have a large list of information sheets researched and written by myself and Margaret Purcell. She wrote the sheet on the black walnut and tracked down all the info she could find on the subject. Bachman's just launched their web page in March, so these resources are now available online. Here is the URL of the page on black walnuts: http://www.bachmans.com/tipsheets/Woodies/BlackWalnuts.htm. You will see that there are a lot of things that will grow there.

I have a client who has a walnut tree in the back corner but wants to add plantings there if possible.  I know that walnuts give off a toxic substance but I don't know if it is toxic to everything or if some plants are immune.  Please let me know if you have had success with this situation.

Thanks
